“California” é o novo single de Alex Fleming em parceria com MOE. Lançada no dia 23 de Abril de 2026 (Ano 16) pela Wild Music Group, em parceria com a Fleming Recordings e Harajunk Inc, a canção é o segundo single oficial (terceiro num geral) do quinto álbum de estúdio de Fleming.
Composta entre janeiro de 2025 (sob o working title “Antagonist”) e março de 2026, a faixa quebra as expectativas de algo doce ou seguro vindo de Fleming. A canção é composta sob uma ótica de amargura, ódio e um pouco de indiferença diante uma figura que busca se sobrepor e “atropelar” qualquer um para se sentir vista ou manter as aparências… ou nem sempre.
Os versos parecem mesclar o que seria um relacionamento amoroso com uma amizade, e também apenas a visão externa de alguém que costumava ser próximo.
Em entrevista para o Jimmy Kimmel, Alex disse o seguinte:
“A música foi feita depois de observar algumas coisas na minha vida pessoal e profissional que não pareciam certas. Pessoas que usavam da minha boa vontade e talvez da minha compaixão para escalar nas minhas costas e depois cuspir todo o tipo de merda em tablóides, panelas e músicas sem ao menos pensar em como eu me sentiria. Até mesmo comentários sobre o meu corpo, minhas letras e a forma como eu conduzia a minha carreira.
Enquanto eu estava na Califórnia, acho que no fim das promoções de um single da época, ouvi todas as histórias sobre como aquele lugar era chamado de “lugar da falsidade” ou algo assim. Foi ali que escrevi o nome “Antagonist” e “California” em meu bloco de notas e, algumas semanas depois, escrevi o primeiro esboço da faixa.
Chamar MOE foi instantâneo. Na época, eu estava super viciado em TITANE e vi que ela seria o par perfeito para despejar mais um pouco de ódio nessa canção. O verso dela condiciona bastante dessa persona do último disco, ao mesmo tempo que se conecta com o que canto e deixa a faixa ainda mais pulsante. É incrível estar com ela nessa música!”
Quando perguntado sobre o que quer passar com esse lançamento, Alex diz:
“Eu só quero mostrar para algumas pessoas que eu também posso ser amargo e um filho da puta. Nesse álbum (Schizophonic) eu não me calei, e essa música é um exemplo disso!”
